Disney World -- John's First Trip!

Disney World -- John's First Trip!

With 3 pieces of luggage and 2 backpacks we boarded our first ever flight with our little guy to the most "magical place on earth" -- Disney World!  I was feeling all the feels about this flight. Never having flown before with John left much unknown and that was making me anxious, nervous, and excited all at the same time! The airport we left out of was tiny so it allowed for lots of running around without really disturbing anyone.  I actually wanted him to run around being that he was going to be "seated" for about 3 hours and to get out all his wiggles so he would hopefully nap on the plane.  After about 20 minutes of running around, we boarded, got to our seats, and buckled up!  While sucking on lollipops, eating animal crackers, and playing with his new toys, the plane took off and John was none the wiser. He didn't nap, but there was a cuddle session while watching Curious George. :) The plane landed in warm sunny Orlando and we headed for our ride -- Disney's Magical Express.  Although I wanted to rent a car, my husband was right in that it's just so darn convenient to use the transportation Disney offers when staying on their property.

We booked a 5 night stay at Disney's Boardwalk Villas and LOVED it!  The room was clean, had a kitchen, and hardwood floors! Yay! The hotel is located on a boardwalk (hence the name, lol) filled with shops, eats, and entertainment. However the biggest draw was its proximity to Hollywood Studios and Epcot, both of which are within walking distance! This meant no rushing to catch the bus or dragging the stroller on and off of it! Win!

Day 1 -- All about that sleep

We got in at around 6 so it was night night and resting up for the next day. Oh, and using the wipes I brought to clean away the previous visitors --  in case the cleaning crew forgot ;)

Day 2 -- Hollywood Studios and Epcot

The Disney Junior show was the first attraction and a big hit! After this we really just took in the sites, ate some lollipops, lunched at Catalina Eddies, and then headed to Epcot.  Here, we went on The Seas with Nemo and Friends, the Grand Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, and then we headed back to the hotel because we were wiped!

Day 3 -- The Magic Kingdom -- Major Meltdown

With good intentions we headed to Magic Kingdom after a dip in the pool. We met up with the fam and went on Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover and the Jungle Cruise, and then it was all tantrums and meltdowns from there after. We left without seeing much of anything else.  That's the real life part of being at Disney World with a 2 year old my friends.  I too had some meltdowns that day, so give yourself grace for these moments and know that you are NOT alone.

Day 4 -- Pool and Shopping

The Hotel had a kiddie pool just John's size -- like an extra large tubby! lol He met new friends who loved the water as much as he did too! This was great because his cousin wanted nothing to do with it!  While the boys were in the pool I worked on my tan -- thank you Jesus :) After, gathering the troops we headed to Disney Springs for some eats and shopping.  They actually had some cute age appropriate rides for the kiddies -- a five day hopper pass and we went on more rides here.  Go figure!  We ate at the Rain Forest Cafe and it was yummy and so entertaining for the kids! We didn't need a reservation either! We went at like 5 p.m.

Day 5 -- Animal Kingdom (John's holy grail of parks)

It was all about the Kilimanjaro Safari Ride that day.  We fast passed this because everyone said it was THEE hot ride at this park.  The bad thing about fast passes though is that it makes you commit to a time - not the best idea with a toddler.  We forwent our fast pass, waited an hour in line, and the kicker is that later in the day the wait was only 15 mins!  TIP -- go later in the day! All the animals are still out! We opted not to make restaurant reservation because a) you pay to make a reservation and b) I didn't want to be tied to something in case I had to deal with a toddler meltdown at that time.  I was a little bummed about it so my sweet husband took a chance and asked how long the wait was at Tusker House Restaurant .  When he walked out saying that it was only a 15 minute wait my jaw dropped! We lunched with Mickey and his crew that day and John's face was lit up the entire time!  Mine was too! :)

We ended the day with the Festival of the Lion King show.  I will say I didn't appreciated one of the numbers they performed. It was a little too dark in every sense of the word for our taste,  so I just tried to distract John while it was going on. He was fine throughout the whole thing though.  After the show, ice cream and our beds were calling our name so we said bye bye to all the animals and headed back to the hotel.

Day 6 -- trip back home

Our flight left in the afternoon so we hit the pool for a little while and then hopped on the Magical Express and headed to the airport to return home.

Although it was John's first time, I've been very blessed to have visited Disney World many time with my fam in the past.  We all say the same thing when leaving: "I feel like I need another vacation" and "I'm not doing this again for a while", lol! The funny part is we always forget the chaos and keep coming back for more and more and more! And therein lies the magic of the most magical place on earth. ;)
